## About

Managed Apple Accounts function much like Apple Accounts but are specifically designed for, owned, and managed by, an organization. These accounts are separate from personal Apple Accounts users create for themselves. This helps to keep organizational data separate from personal data with robust management controls.

## Purpose of Managed Apple Accounts

Managed Apple Accounts are used by organizations primarily for:

- Enabling BYOD enrollment of personal Apple Devices
- Separating corporate from personal data

## Limitations of Managed Apple Accounts

Managed Apple Accounts can't access or use certain Apple services or apps.

**iCloud services**

| App name or service | Description |
| --- | --- |
| Home | The app appears, but the user can't add HomeKit devices to the Home app. |
| Find My | The app appears, but the user can't use it. |
| Journal | The app appears, but the user can't use it. |
| iCloud Family Sharing | Managed Apple Accounts can't use this feature. |
| iCloud Mail | Managed Apple Accounts can't use this feature. |
| Sign in to iCloud for Windows | Managed Apple Accounts can't use this feature. |
| iCloud+ services (Private Relay, Hide My Email, Custom Email Domain) | Managed Apple Accounts can't use these features. |
| Prepare for new iPhone or iPad in Settings > General > Transfer or Reset | Managed Apple Accounts can't use this feature. |

## Benefits of Managed Apple Accounts

Depending on how Managed Apple Accounts are created, password resets can be completed in Apple School Manager and Apple Business Manager or—if connected to an identity provider (IdP)—through the IdP.
